One Stitch at a Time Challenge 124

This week at One Stitch at a Time, the challenge is simple - use a digi! That's it. Any colours, any theme.

We're sponsored by
And this week, I got to work with an image from Ike's Art called Bluetit and Rowan. Now, I'm not what you'd call a nature lover, so please forgive me if my choice of colours isn't true to life!

I coloured the image with Promarkers, and added highlights to the berries with a Sakura Souffle pen. The paper is from a Springtime pad I bought a few years ago - I love the unusual colours in it. I decided that the image is perfect for a 'unisex' card, so I decided not to add flowers or anything that would put off any of the men in my life. Instead, I just tried to echo the branch with berries by using a Spellbinders swirl and some red beads.

Hope you can join us.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Crazy Amigos where it's a free theme,
Jackson Digital Expressions where anything goes (with a digi),
Crafty Bloggers Network where anything goes,
Emerald Faeries where they want swirls. (Hope my swirly paper with die cut swirl fits the bill.)
Crafts and Me where anything goes,
Fat Pages and Cards with Attitude where anything goes,
The Poodles Parlour where anything goes,
ATCs and Cards with Attitude whre anything goes,
Crafty Mess where they want birds.

One Stitch at a Time Challenge 123

This week at One Stitch at a Time, our theme is the Olympics! So, the Games themselves, sport, or anything that makes you think of the Olympics.

We're sponsored this week by the fabulous Joanna Sheen.

My image this week is from Pookie Designs and it's called Boy Angst.

For my card this week, I decided to make a card for a friend and colleague who's leaving the school where I work at the end of the summer term. The school is for children with Moderate Learning Difficulties, and we both work with a group of children with severe Autism.  We get a lot of challenging behaviour as a result, and some of it is because the child has lost control due to changes or overstimulation. And sometimes, it's a definite attempt to regain control in a situation where they're expected to do something they don't want to.

So, I made a card to reflect our work.
Card Front
The base card is a double-fold card from Craft Creations, and I created the sentiment and paper in Photoshop Elements, using the colours of the Olympic Rings and a gold/silver/bronze colour theme. I finished with some flowers. The larger ones I made, while the smaller ones are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Inside of the Card
And the Image in more Detail
The image is coloured with Promarkers, after being added to a background of the Olympic Rings and the medal platform.

I've used various Spellbinders dies - nestibilities and labels, and some ribbon in medal colours.

Hope you can join us this week.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Craft Creations where the theme is 'Gold, Silver, Bronze'
Kaboodle Doodles where the theme is the Olympics,

One Stitch at a Time Challenge 122

This week at One Stitch at a Time, its 'anything goes'! That's right, whatever you want to share!

Our sponsor this week is

This week, I worked with an image from Digi Blessings called Snowflake Butterfly.

I adapted the sentiment before adding it to the image, then printed and cut using one of my nestibilities. I coloured with Promarkers, adding some pale blue sky with Derwent Colorsoft pencils and some glitter to the snowflakes with Sakura Stardust pen. I finished with some glamour dust 'snow' on the ground. Matting uses some holographic card, which was also used to cut some Cuttlebug snowflakes in my Wizard. The paper is from Kars and the ribbon is from my stash.

Hope you can join us this week.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

A Ruby Anniversary Card

I was asked to make a Ruby Wedding Anniversary card by a friend, and she supplied photos. I ended up using another of those double-fold cards I ordered by accident, and I'm really pleased with the result. However, all I can show here are the front and final pages - and I've even changed the names just in case the recipients or someone who knows them happen to find this blog. (Highly unlikely, but still.)

I designed the basic card in Photoshop Elements, using one of the background supplied - Wine Satin. For the front of the card, I made some dimensional flowers using punched white card to which I applied a base colour with Promarkers, and then shaded using Distress Inks. I also added some seed pearls for the centres of the smallest flowers. Inside, once the card is unfolded, there are three panels which I've decorated as the inside part, above. The two panels I haven't included show the couple on their wedding day along with a more recent photo, and include the dates. For these panels, I made some more flowers, but kept these flat so that the card can fold shut.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Di's Digi Challenge where they want us to pile on the flowers,
ATCs and Cards with Attitude where anything goes,
Fat Pages and Cards with Attitude where anything goes,
Flourish where they want a sentiment to be the main focus,

One Stitch at a Time Challenge 121

This week at One Stitch at a Time, our theme is the sun! So, colours or shapes or something else that means 'sun' to you!  We're sponsored this week by

This week, I chose a gorgeous image from Floppy Latte designs called 'Funky Flower'. I chose a theme with circles, and golden sunshine colours coupled with sky blues. And flowers, of course, need lots of sunshine!
First, I printed the image four times. I coloured it with Promarkers, and layered it as shown. Before I layered, I scanned the base layer matted to a nestiblity scallopped circle. I used this image to make a backing paper which included the borders as shown. To add a final touch of dimension, I layered the three corner 'buttons'.

Finally, I added an insert to match.

Hope you can join us this week.

More on a Theme

The card I posted a few days ago turned out to be the first of three on a theme. I glittered three of the wrought iron images, and managed to finish two further cards.

For both, I stamped the background on standard black card using Versamark ink and then Perfect Pearls in blues and greens. In addition I've used some Spellbinders border dies, Spellbinders Nestibilities and their new layered flower dies which I've used for the first time, as well as the branch type die from Marianne Creatables. The glittered images here and in the previous post all use the same colours of glitter (green, turquoise and blue) but I got very different effects by varying where each colour went.

I've also been busy working on some DT cards, but they won't be 'public' for a while!

One Stitch at a Time Challenge 120

This week at One Stitch at a Time, I got to work with an image by Delicious Doodles chosen by my team mate, Hazel.

Our sponsor this week is
and our theme is a simple one - use a digi!

I coloured the image with Promarkers, framing it first in PSE, then mounting the result of pearlescent card. The paper is from Paper Cellar which is edged with Distress Ink, and I hand made the roses from more pearlescent card, finishing the card with some sticky gems.

Hope you cna join us this week.

Something New

For the past six weeks or so, my crafting ability has been curtailed. My daughter was in the midst of A levels, and didn't want to be stuck in her room alone to revise, so she took over the dining table. And of course, that's where I normally do my crafting! That's not to say I haven't done anything, but I've been limited to bits I can do on a tray on my lap. In that respect, digi-stamps are perfect, as I can print them, colour with Promarkers, and then beg a bit of kitchen work top or a corner of the table to mat and layer them into cards. But I've missed having a good play, and I had several stamps which I'd never even inked up. Yesterday, I spent some time doing various inky things, and I've got a box of possibilities to work on, but last night, I did finish one card, and here it is:
The stamp I used is from Clarity - Wrought Iron Circle. I stamped it onto black coated card using a Versamark pad, then applied Perfect Pearls in various blues and greens. I left the ink to dry well before brushing off the excess. I cut that piece into four and mounted it on silver mirror board. I stamped the image again, this time onto white card and embossed in black. Using a Quickie Glue Pen, I applied various colours of fine glitter, and mounted the resulting circle onto a nestie die cut. To finish, I used a new purchase from Spellbinders - those lovely feather-like swirly bits. I'm quite pleased with the results - I've always loved abstract designs. It probably stems from my inability to draw anything recognisable, but I can manage patterns. (Not that I drew anything here, but still.)

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
